can we quote for you
Budgets and Quoting
Whether or not you have filmed in South Africa before, we would welcome the opportunity of giving you a comparative quote on your next commercial production.
Send us your script or storyboard and we'll get back to you as soon as possible with a quick and accurate quote.
Click here for our contact details or to request more information.
Cost Plus
For international commercials we generally quote on a "cost plus" basis - unless you are filming with a South African director.
Based on your storyboard and brief to us, we will give you an accurate estimate of what your commercial will cost to shoot in South Africa - and what your budget can realistically afford.
We also enjoy being involved creatively, collaborating with our technical experts to give your director as much scope as possible to create his masterpiece!
Irrespective of the amount we quoted you, if we save money on your production, those savings will be passed on to you.
Together, we'll keep a close watch on expenses during production and work with you to find practical solutions to any potential budgeting problems.
Our Aim
We work with honesty and integrity and want to nurture long, happy, mutually beneficial relationships with our clients.
Value Added Tax
Value Added Tax (VAT) is currently set at 14% and is included in the price of most goods and services in South Africa. However, as registered exporters, we can reclaim VAT on many expenses when producing international commercials and save you money.
You would only be charged VAT on those items where it cannot be reclaimed (such as catering, fuel, passenger vehicles and entertainment.)
Crew
On TV commercials, South African crew work a 10 hour day (which includes 30 mins for breakfast and 45 mins for lunch). After 10 hours, overtime is charged at 1.5 per hour for the next 4 hours and double time thereafter. Turnaround time is 10 hours - i.e. from wrap to the next call.
A premium of 1.5 times the daily rate is charged for work on Sundays, Public Holidays and for the 7th consecutive working day on a single shoot, if applicable.
Cast
The standard artist's workday on commercials is 11 hours per call, including meal times. Thereafter, overtime is charged per hour at 10% of the daily rate. Turnaround time is 10 hours.
Usage Fees
These vary for various countries but more detailed information on these will be given when quoting for a particular shoot.
Recon
After the shoot, once all the invoices have been received and checked, we will email you a detailed breakdown of all costs - usually within two - three weeks of shooting.
Should you request this prior to shooting, a full breakdown booklet containing copies of ALL invoices will be created for you. We pride ourselves on the honesty and transparency of our accounting. If the booklet is not requested prior to production, we can send you random invoices on request.
Please contact us if you would like more information about quoting.
